My husband is a jeweler. More than once I found him at the coffee table late at night, still trying to answer one question: what does this piece really cost? The metal, the stones, the hours at the bench, the finishing, the postage, the gallery take. The work was beautiful. The numbers lived in different places, and he was tired.
My background is operations. I spent years in large companies learning how to make complicated costs clear without getting in the way of the work. So I started building something for him. A private ledger that speaks the language of an atelier, not a generic accounting package.
I never wanted to pull him away from what he loves. He should keep designing and crafting each piece. I just wanted the math to be honest, up to date, and handled quietly behind him.
As I went with him to visit other studios, we started to notice something. People did not always say it out loud, but the worry felt familiar. Beautiful work, numbers that were hard to trust. We were not the only ones. That is when Alloy & Ledger stopped being just our coffee-table project and became something worth sharing.

Alloy & Ledger is a web application for independent fine jewelry studios. It connects daily precious metal market prices to piece-level costing, vault inventory, production tracking, and sales records in one private workspace per studio.
Each account is isolated with database row-level security: another jeweler cannot read your materials, bench jobs, or ledger entries.
The product serves solo goldsmiths, bench workers, apprentices, and small atelier owners who still price in notebooks or spreadsheets that do not track overnight metal moves.
It is not generic accounting software. Terminology and workflows follow jewelry making: grams, fineness, casting yield, showroom tiers, and hallmarking stages.
The product is built for the Swiss jewelry market first: CHF is the default operating currency, with VAT-aware sales snapshots in The Ledger. Studios may also register with EUR or USD as their operating currency.
The public site and app are available in English and French.
Jewelers need to know what a piece truly costs before naming a price to a client — metal at today's rate, stones, bench hours, finishing, postage, and gallery commission.
Alloy & Ledger keeps shop-rate costing separate from client quotes, tracks inventory at weighted averages with low-stock alerts, records sales and returns without erasing history, and exports CSV summaries for accountants.
